Leicester, United Kingdom 16th September 2014

Fiesta ST240aLeading Ford performance specialist Graham Goode Racing (GGR) is delighted to announce a new performance tuning package for the 182 PS, 139 mph Ford Fiesta ST hot hatch.

Having already released a successful and critically acclaimed 225 bhp package last year, GGR has undertaken further development work on the Fiesta ST, leveraging all of its BTCC race winning turbocharged engineering experience to improve the performance of the 1.6-litre Ecoboost direct injection engine whilst drastically lowering the price point of the conversion.

The end result of this process is the GGR ST240 package, which consists of an all-new High Flow Direct Air Induction System and a ‘Smooth Flow’ Air Induction hose allied to a totally revised ECU remap from electronics experts Superchips Ltd, which is delivered via the well-proven bluefin handset. In combination these components significantly boost the Fiesta ST’s engine power to a stunning 240 bhp, allied to an impressive 343 Nm of torque, whilst retaining the standard Ford exhaust system and catalytic converter to ensure MOT emissions compliance.

Comparison Engine Performance Figures

Standard Ford Fiesta ST Power  180 bhp Torque 290 Nm
GGR Fiesta ST 240 Power  240 bhp Torque 343 Nm

On the road the performance and throttle response of the 1088 kilo Fiesta ST is staggering when provoked but extremely driveable, user-friendly, quiet and linear in its delivery, making for an exciting, refined drive in the best GGR tradition.

GGR ST240 Pricing

The GGR ST240 upgrade for the 1.6-litre Ecoboost Fiesta ST is priced at just £728.98 including free installation and is available directly from Graham Goode Racing and from Superchips’ HQ in Buckingham. Fitting is a straightforward process with minimal mechanical skills required and takes less than one hour. Quoted prices include VAT @ 20%.

GGR Fiesta ST 240 Conversion Technical Details

The standard induction tract of the Fiesta ST was an obvious area for improvement. The air filter box on the ST is essentially the same as used in all Fiesta models, despite the increased engineFiesta ST240 size and power, so this obviously limits airflow into the 1.6-litre Ecoboost engine. In addition, the standard air filter outlet pipe is very restrictive and uses convoluted sections, these are also very disruptive to air flow. To overcome this GGR has produced a special High-Flow Direct Air Induction System and matching silicone air induction hose to eradicate the restrictions of the standard components, which allows for greatly increased inlet flow.

The all-new GGR High-Flow Direct Air Induction System consists of a large cone K&N filter element, which fits into a special spun aluminium trumpet assembly, incorporating a CNC machined mounting for the Ecoboost engine’s Mass Air Flow sensor. The cold air feed to the GGR High-Flow Direct Induction system channels air from the standard position at the front of the car, using a special ABS plastic moulding to feed air directly to the cone filter. The large K&N air filter offers no restriction to the incoming air, which is then directed into the inlet hose and through the Ecoboost motor’s Mass Air Flow sensor by the special trumpet shaped section.

The GGR air induction hose is moulded from smooth walled 4-ply silicone throughout, which eliminates any restriction and prevents any disruption to the Fiesta’s Ecoboost engine intake.

The final but crucial element of the GGR Fiesta ST240 conversion package is the engine management system (ECU) calibration. Because the ST240 upgrade has made significant improvements on the breathing efficiency of the engine, GGR has collaborated with long-term automotive performance electronics specialist Superchips Ltd to ensure that the ECU calibration is suitable for the new enhanced mechanical specification, with a bespoke remap. Please note that the GGR ST240 Superchips bluefin remap is not backwards compatible with GGR’s previously available GGR5000 CAIS for the Mk7 Fiesta ST model.

For ease of installation, the GGR ST240 ECU remap is only available via the market leading Superchips bluefin handset which easily and speedily uploads the revised calibration directly to the ECU via the Fiesta ST’s OBD II communication port.

NOTE: Existing GGR ST225 can upgrade to GGR ST240 specification – please contact Graham Goode Racing for more details.
