heartlandpark360xAfter opening its doors in 1989, Heartland Park Topeka, the record setting drag strip, 2.5-mile championship road course and dirt oval facility, would stretch it’s arms to welcome everything and anything that had to do with the history of the automobile and growing world of motorsports.

With the blessing of the City of Topeka, the enthusiasm of city and an investment of nearly $30 million, the track began to take shape in July of 1987. By April 1989, the history of American Motorsports would have a new chapter in its book.

Heartland Park Topeka provides top-notch entertainment for all types of racing fans. Heartland Park Topeka is a multimillion-dollar complex including a quarter-mile drag strip with 23 luxury suites, a 2.5-mile championship road course and a 3/8-mile dirt oval track.  The track went through a $20-million renovation back in 2003 that added 33 garages, a state-of-the-art tech building and a new timing and scoring building for road course events.

The multipurpose facility hosts a wide variety of entertaining events, including a NHRA Drag Racing National event featuring Top Fuel, Funny Cars and Pro Stocks. Heartland Park Topeka has also featured World of Outlaws, USAC Sprint and Midgets, demolition derbies, monster truck shows, Jr. Dragsters, car shows,  bracket racing, music venues, an NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing event, and much more.

Heartland Park Topeka is dedicated to providing fans the best possible experience. With a diverse selection of events to choose from, fans and racers can visit for their all-time favorite events, and try a few more along the way. Whether looking for a rare car part in vendor’s row, feeling the power of the cars on the drag strip, or walking the gleaming rows at the car shows, fans are not disappointed.

Attractions at Heartland Park Topeka events have brought TV crews from ESPN, MTV, SPEED TV and others to the City of Topeka.  Activities at the facility keep the tires smoking at this 750-acre site nearly 275 dates a year.

 

The Road Course at Heartland Park Topeka

Heartland Park Topeka has one of the premier road courses in the country. A 2.5-mile course can be configured in a number of ways and hosts events ranging from kart races to SCCA races.

Test your limits and those of your motorcyle or car by participating in an HPT Bike Day or Touring Club Day. In either of these full day experiences, you’ll learn from professional racers and have the experience of a lifetime. No matter what your skill level, these events will get you on the track in a safe, controlled environment.

 

Got a group of car enthusiasts? You can also rent the road course for a private driving event. Our rates are very competitive and we can supply everything you need from safety equipment to catering. 

Experience the thrills of the Heartland Park Topeka road course in your own car with the HPT Touring Club, the ultimate track day for street cars and their drivers! Test your street legal machine on the 2.1-mile, 14 turn, layout of the Heartland Park Topeka road course. Controlled conditions with instructors for novice drivers ensure a safe experience.

Our premier road course is open to the first 75 registered drivers. Levels of expertise include novice, intermediate, and advanced. Please note: no registrations will be accepted after registration closes. RAIN OR SHINE.

From I-70 West

Take I-70 into Topeka to I-470

Merge onto I-470 south

Exit I-470 South to Highway 75/SW Topeka Blvd South

Turn Right onto Highway 75/SW Topeka Blvd South

Travel Approximately 5 miles south to SE Gary Ormsby Dr.

From I-70 East (Kansas City)

Continue on I-70 (Kansas Turnpike) to South Topeka Exit 177

Take an immediate Right to to Highway 75/SW Topeka Blvd South

Turn Right onto Highway 75/SW Topeka Blvd South

Travel Approximately 5 miles south to SE Gary Ormsby Dr.

Directed Parking

All parking at the raceway is directed into the facility by raceway personnel. Directed parking allows for maximum use of space and improved traffic flow into the facility. Please follow the direction of the parking staff as you enter/exit the facility.

Daily RV/Oversized Vehicle Parking

Due to limited space throughout the facility, the raceway recommends that you do not bring RVs and other oversized vehicles on race day. Space will be limited, and the setting-up of awnings and additional space next to the vehicle will not be allowed.

Overnight Camping

Overnight camping is only available during the NHRA event and requires a reserved camping pass. Vehicles entering for the day need to leave the raceway each evening.
